I have this laid out better and it is somewhere on my computer if you want to email me for more info: carmieb93ATyahoo.com

Phase 1- Each child wanting to run for Prince/Princess or King/Queen must bring in "votes." votes are 1 penny. The boy and girl that has the most votes in each classroom goes on to phase 2. I think this phase is a week. When the cut off bell rings no more votes are taken and the final money is counted by the teacher.

Phase 2- Sealed coffee cans are given to each classroom winner. They collect as many votes as possible. Many kids will set up collection jars at local businesses and many will sell candy and goodies during a special part of the day (they also do this in phase 1). This phase usually ends up being in fall break now, so they have more time to collect money. After the cut off bell rings a committee goes to a special location to count the money. The winner is not announced until the night of the fall festival during the crowning ceremony. Each room has always been represented. The boys escort the girls, recieve their trophy, get their picture made and take their seat on the stage. The overall winners are crowned by our Miss County winner.

I am not sure how much the trophies and crowns are but they barely make a dent in the profit.

The biggie for this is the Royalty Contest which always brings over $10K

Can you explain this? I have wanted to do a carnival for the past 2 years but have been shot down. I figure if I can get everything worked out...and my naysayer stays home...I can get the motion passed this year. It is AMAZING how one person's sour attitude can influence a group of people.

When we had about 450 students our Fall Festival raised had about a $16K-$18K profit. The biggie for this is the Royalty Contest which always brings over $10K. The Haunted House was popular,we estimated over $500+ the first year we did it (some idiot had the tickets thrown away before we could count them ). It probably made more than that the following year because there was a higher charge due to the graphics. We also have a cake/prize walk, basket auction, and a supper along with the regular games.

Hi all -

Can anyone tell me what an average profit is from a school carnival? Our school has roughly 180 students. We need a new fundraiser, but anything we do must net $10K or more.

Thanks!
