Our PTSA does a fashion show every year and its gotten bigger every year. The entire sr high (9-12) is involved and it is a major fundraiser for post-prom. Just about every store in a 20 mile radius sends clothes (some stores let the students keep them). Target, Filenes, Sears, JC Penney, Burlington, Dicks Sporting Goods and local boutiques to name a few. Every year there is a theme, this year of course being patriotic. A local Harley-Davidson Shop is outfitting our principal in leather and having him ride onto the
stage on a classic Harley Fatboy. (thats a motorcycle) I can't wait, because our principal is one of the most conservative people i have ever met.
Also, the local tux shops and prom gown boutiques always send the latest fashions as prom season is just around the corner. The kids love the fashion show and we now have a lottery to pick the models, with seniors having first priority. Also, the kids emcee and pick the music to go along with the theme.
As i said, this is a senior high event run primarily by students and advised by PTSA, but I'm sure an elementary could do the same, just with kids clothes.
The money to be made is in admission and door prize raffles. We get all sorts of businesses to donate services, dinners, gift certificates etc. This doesn't take alot of money to do as the clothes and props are all lent or given to the kids by the stores. As I said, it's alot of fun.

Good luck,

Suzi

Some Fashion Bugs also do shows.

There is another line of clothing called Weekenders. It's sold at home parties, but the reps are usually very knowledgeable. The Weekenders clothes are not cheap, but not outrageously expensive either, good quality, comfortable and have a wide range of sizing.

Weekender Reps can also funnel their profits towards your organization.

Check them out at www.weekendersusa.com/

PS. I am not a Weekender rep. I work in an office and need to dress up for work. I just really like their clothes. And No dry clean!

I graduated from a small community college and this was a project for our class....fashion merchandising class! It's been a LONG time since I did this but was thinking you could contact a local college with this program and see if they have ideas etc for you. Who knows, maybe even a few helpers and fashions their students have created!! FUN!!

Wish I could help more!!! Just thought of something else, big department stores may be harder to get than the smaller clothing stores. I mean Macy's may not be willing to contribute but a Stein Mart or (sorry I can't think what would be out East) would be willing to help. Most of these stores have an event person that you can talk to but I would go through a college first as they may already know who, what.....
Hope this has helped!!
