Cookie dough sale in warm climate

19 years 8 months ago #88607 by ScottMom#1
I don't remember the name right now, but we found a company that would bring a freezer truck on whatever day you specified and they would take back what wasn't picked up and schedule a second delivery for no extra charge. We have absolutely no freezer space at our school, so this was the only way to sell such products.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

We do cookie dough every year. My recommendation would be for the pre-measured, pre-cut cookies all you do is put on a pan and bake. Alot of schools in our area do the buckets but they are a pain. Readers Digest did our cookie dough last year and it was great. As for pickup, we simply turned down the thermostat in our gymnasium and shut the doors. Parents were sent 2 notices the week of pick-up. We did a pickup from 1/2 before school was out until 7:30 in the evening. Most of our cookies got picked up and we put the rest in the school freezer and called parents to arrange pickup of these.

Hi everyone,

Our school tried a cookie dough sale one year and it was a disaster, for the same reason. We are in Georgia and the frozen dough was an issue with the heat.

We did what some have suggested, and made parents pick it up on delivery day at a certain time. But as I'm sure you know, parents are anything but reliable.

What we are doing this year, however, is doing a dry cookie dough fundraiser. No freezers or anything to worry about. All you do is add egg and butter and ta-da, cookie dough. It still comes in the neat reusable containers and all. This idea has gone over very well with our families, and it doesn't matter how long it sits. Once you add the extras, you can freeze or refridgerate the dough for later use.

If you want more info on the company we are using email me at jmundt06 @ yahoo.com (remove spaces). Hope this helps some!

We have never had a problem due to the warm weather when doing this fundraiser. We do set up in the cafeteria for delivery after school but do not use their freezers. All items are picked up the day they are delivered. We send home reminders twice the week before delivery asking the parents to arrange for ppick up. Through the years a few parents have failed to show up during the delivery. We do have a freezer available for emergency use but rarely use it. We call parents who have not picked up about 90 minutes before the delivery ends...we also send a note home with the child the same day.

Hi Berdell! We are a PTO in Ft.Pierce over on the east coast, and we're just getting back to normal after 2 hurricanes. Up until this year we have always had a cookie dough sale. Unfortunately, getting parents to pick up food that they have already paid for was getting harder and harder each year. As it is a popular sale, I would love to know what company does home delivery. It would be an answer to our prayers. As for not making any money this year, we are in the same boat. We just hate to ask for anything when so many people have lost so much. Luckly, we have no major expenses this year. Good luck! and hang in there over there, what are the chances it could happen again next year? ;) Of coures, what were the chances it could happen here twice in three weeks? :D lol, it's the only thing we can do!

Hi! I need some input from some PTO's in warm weather climates regarding cookie dough sales.
We are a PTO located in Port Charlotte FL and are looking to do a 'dough' sale for the first time. There is a company our PTO president found that will deliver the 'dough' directly to homes (since several children here are in after or before school care). Needless to say since we were affected so badly by Hurricane Charley our school is in double sessions (we go in the AM another school attends PM) and our cafeteria can can barely contain all of its needs to feed 2 schools worth of students in its freezer. This would be our only viable option. We are wanting input on how other PTO's in the south have dealt with this or if any have used a 'home delivery' from the fundraising company? Any input would be great. We ususally just do 1 HUGE fall fundraiser and a few little ones throughout the year but with the toll taken on our community we don't think we will get anywhere NEAR the funds we had gotten in the past. Thank you all for your time and words of wisdom! :)
