I agree. I would run from these guys if you want to do the link service you can do that through box tops for education. scrip also has a credit card but boxtops and target both have that too. If you do the scrip with schoolpop you could do that with Great Lakes Scrip Center. Better to work with companies you can trust.

This is why I love this website. We signed up with schoolpop.com, but haven't had many takers--I think most use upromise too much to switch. But I had figured this was a no brainer, if we got something, great; if we didn't, no big deal--we weren't asking anyone to do any extra spending. However, now I'm thinking it might not be worth it at all. Because it is a link service, for every click they get money. If they aren't going to get us what we earn, why help them earn money???

I have been involved with SchoolPop and the National Scrip Center purchased by SchoolPop for 3 years now. It began as a smooth easy way to successfully raise much needed funds for our country school. It has been a nightmare for the last 2 years. Trying to maintain our program with their ever changing requirements have made their program all but unusable for us. Their website espouses terms such as easy, hassel free, seamless. That couln't be further from the truth. We have a $700 credit due us which we can only get back by small percentages off future scrip purchases. I called to purchase a large anmount of Encompass cards last week to learn I cannot purchase them unless I purchase a large amount of other Scrip. We had stocked up with other Scrip at the beginning of the year and dont need it yet. Therefore, I cannot purchase this much needed Scrip, to keep our program moving along, and recapture our credit. Please note: the credit is due from orders unfullfilled from the company SchoolPop purchased and is honoring...or are they???

I have concerns about SchoolPop. When they took over SchoolCash (which they described as their main competitor), we never got our SchoolCash money. SchoolPop is owned by a company called barpoint.com, and the last set of financial statements I found for them was pretty scary. Their reporting is also dreadfully slow.

I would recommend the BoxTops for Education Marketplace program in place of SchoolPop. Most schools do BoxTops anyway, and this ties in very nicely. As Internet shopping gets more and more popular, I think these programs will continue to pick up. We don't make a huge amount of money off it, but a good chunk from a few people. If you can find the few people who do a lot of Internet shopping, and get them used to using the system, it does start to add up.

We tried to do SchoolPop with very little success. We sent flyers home, posted signs and in the end, only myself and one other person used the service. Over a couple of years, we made a very small amount of money. When I decided it was time to lay it to rest, I called the company and explained that it was futile at my school and to please sent us our "measly" 25.00 and change that we had remaining. Because it was not an amount over $50 (not sure of the exact amount, but you get the picture) they could not cut a check to us.
Long story short- they kept OUR money!

I'm a big believer in my mom's old adage about things that appear too good to be true. We used to use Schoolpop (when it was in California)and we used to use the National Scrip Center. Now both of those companies are run by some company in Atlanta. I don't know. We stopped using them after we had a very bad time with scrip through them.
