How about Halloween Halls. Each of the teachers can have something different in their classroom. One could have a scary movie, one could have Halloween karaoke (they did the mash, the monster mash!!) a few could have games or be "haunted" for the bigger kids. Bob for prizes, you name it. You could sell or give away baked goods, popcorn balls, punch, the ideas and fun could be limitless. Even as an adult I love Halloween and know the kids would have a blast.
We've done Bingo, Karoake (huge successes), and am planning on doing Craft night, Game night, and Speakers for Parents--Discipline, Conflict management, etc. I am interested in having semi- professionals come to put on concerts, dances, storytellers/puppeteers, science experiments, etc but it will depend on the money. Some are only $250, while others are $750 for a couple of hours.
Our spring carnival (fundraiser) has always been a huge success as well. With games, bounce house and food.
We did something similar with one of our local fire stations, one of the parents at the school is the captain. The kids all loved it and the parents also seemed to enjoy it too, especially the dads (Just mix big loud fire trucks with dads and they become kids again).
Next year we were planning on doing the same thing with the police dept. I like the idea of trucks from around the community, I guess we would have to contact the city to see what we could do.
I thought this would be a good forum to see what different family event ideas we could all come up with. The more ideas the better. This year our PTA is going to do a "Touch A Truck" night. We will bring in trucks from throughout the community for the kids to "touch" and go through. I think the kids will all really enjoy this hands on activity. [img]smile.gif[/img]
