School enrichment programs

18 years 8 months ago #87912 by mum24kids
dgaa--What do you do for your 6th-8th graders? Are you looking for ideas for afterschool enrichment programs (we have some classes similar to what Shawn has, managed by the PTA), or are you looking at things that enhance the regular curriculum during the normal school day? Our school system has a couple of ways of dealing with your situation during the school day, but the parent group doesn't have anything to do with it.

Hey guys,

If you are looking for an 'enriching' activity for your school, you might want to check out a program we've been using. Its called 'Chess for
Children', and it functions as a PTO sponsored event to raise money for the school as well as help the kids. So far so good, the parents are loving the chess club!

There website is: www.chessforchildren.net

Let me know how things go, Good Luck!

Hi! I am sorry I can't help you with your problem, but maybe you can help me with mine. I would love to hear about your enrichment programs for 6-8th. Our PTO is really struggling this year and I would really appreciate any ideas. Thank you. email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Has anyone ever tried to start a school enrichment program for grades 2-5th. We already have a program in place for 6th - 8th grade, however nothing for our younger genious'. Some of our students with higher IQ's and test scores are getting bored easily.

I would like to bring this to our Superintendent, but would like some ideas to back it up.
