When is THE best time for an auction?

We held ours on a Thursday night in April at a banquet facility and made $14,000.

Last year was our first attempt and we did a Friday night in November. Thinking that before Christmas would be good. We had about 150 items to auction and we had an auctioneer. The evening took about 4 hours but we raised $6800.
This year we are having ours on a Saturday (the same time of year) with a one hour preview time. I think we will add a silent auction section so that the duration is not quite so long.

We try to not book on a day when there is a lot of stuff going on in the community, we check with other schools in the district too. There is a lot of competition for the donations and peoples time

We just had ours on Saturday. Going to move it to another time of year because it was just too nice outside. After being cooped up all winter no one wanted to be inside at an auction. So, what advice can you give for a different and better time of year...Thanks!!
