Math-A-Thons and Math Bees are academic competitions with math. You need to do it by grade levels, and it can be done with powerpoint presentations or questions read on cards. Students can do it as a team or individually dpending on what your team decides.

Teachers need to assist in the classroom, practices need to be held for students competing, and trophies, medals, ribbons, or certificates are appropriate prizes.

The Math Bee can be more for the individual and the Math-A-Thon (this is done over a period of time) can be more of a team thing.

Our school would like to have a MathAThon or Math Bee this year. For one, I don't know exactly what a MathAThon would be. Secondly, does anyone have any ideas as to how go put this on; how to prepare; prize ideas; etc.?? Your quick response is greatly appreciated. I have a meeting in three days.
