Auction Dilemma

A "tricky tray" is usually a type of drawing where you buy general tickets and then apply them to the specific prize you hope to win.
For instance, you might have a jar for each item and participants put their tickets in the jar of choice.

It has different names: Tricky Tray, Chinese Auction, or simply "drawing". Note - some believe the first two to be demeaning and don't use those so as not to offend.

Some people use two-part tickets (one in the jar, one to keep), some use a master ticket with tear off stubs, some use the type where you print your name. We always created our won, just printing them in Word and cut them into slips 10 per page that ask for Name and Phone Number.

On this type of drawing/raffle, the popularity influences how much you make. An item might be only worth $50, but if you have 100 people willing to spend $1 on a chance to get it, you might make $100. Plus everyone who puts in a ticket has a chance to win.

I don't know if tricky tray is like lucky tray. Lucky tray is where it has a sticker on the bottom & those people with a sticker on the bottom of it, wins a prize. Hope that helped.

We took all the gift cards and had a gift card pull. Everyone paid $35 a pull. You may get a $50 card or a $10 card; it was a chance everyone took.
To increase auction items we looked at "in school" donations. Try Auctioning off front of the car pool line(broght in $500; Teacher and Principal for the day.(that one day alone brought in over $3000) or designing the front of the yearbook. We asked each classroom to create a piece of art. We had Quilts, birdbaths, chairs ect....
Good Luck

Don't forget about the kids (if they are invited) I like the idea of putting together a grab bag idea for the kids that only cost a buck or two. This way the kids feel like they got something even if mom and dad didn't win a basket. My kids would be able to use their allowance money if they wanted more than the one bag webought for them. Keeping the bags with different items in it is the key for them wanting another bag. You could always add things like a ticket for Hat day or no uniform day or no homework day.
