How do you start a letter to a celebrity?

just a few things to consider. Do not send a SASE. Most places will send it in their own promotional evelope.

Keep it short and simple and most importantly EASY to read. Do not suck up - they can read right through that. Stress how important your event is and what their contribution would do to help the school.

Also, sorry to burst your bubble but big stars have "people" that open and respond to these inquiries. Unless your second cousin knows the star personally, you will probably not get a directly reply.

If you want an autographed picture or football or ?? keep in mind you need to ask a month or two in advance of your event.

Know the star and their schedule - if it's smack in the middle of NFL season - the office will simply not have time to respond - it's best to contact them off-season.

Good luck!

What I'm wondering - don't you think we need to "kiss up" a little? In other words, "you are such a great person and for you to do whatever you are able would be so great for these kids." Plus, what about postage? Do you think it would be easier to send a SASE to ensure you received, at least, a picture?

The problem with my geographic location is Georgia. I'm too far from Atlanta which, naturally, is the epicenter of the State. I'm also getting no's from companies because they don't have stores in my city. So, I'm wondering if I can turn to celebs.

I would PAY for the tickets MYSELF if Tim McGraw comes. You can add to that list Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, the guys from Rascal Flats, Montgomery Gentry, Brooks and Dunn, Trace Akins, and, of course, George.

On a serious note, look for celebrities that have connections to your area. Corliss Williamson (Pro NBA player for the Sacramento Kings) and Pro Golfer John Daly are from this area and we get things (more than just autographed pictures) from them every year. We have a family who has someone in their family who is high up in the St. Louis Cardinals organization who gives us tickets.
