Fashion Show HELP!!!

We have hosted fashion shows for several years but this year we are not because they really did not bring in much money. We got clothing from local stores. For most of the kids we did a surfer summer theme. They looked very cute. Then we had some communion wear (we are a catholic school) and some evening wear that was modeled by the parents. We also had one vintage wedding gown. The stores all donated the clothing for free to use. It was a lot of work coordinating the models and it doesn't bring any money in unless you have raffles/chinese auction. The only money we made on the event itself which was a luncheon was in the ticket price. The raffles generated almost all the money of about $6,000. We had about 100 raffle baskets. The models were definitely the hardest part!

Thank you both of you so much for the tips. I will implement them immediately. I did want to ask, what raffles you recommend to accompany the fashion show, what was the price range for the runway and how long did it take for you to plan the entire event--3 months, 6 months, etc. Thanks again.

Do you have a Children's Place store by you? If you do call them, ask for the store manager and tell her what you what to do and she'll help you. I've run 3 fashion shows with them and they are more than accommedating. They will arrange the fittings and they give you the option of buying or just using the clothes for the night. They also do the announcing at the event(I have a fear of public speaking so this was a big bonus!)

If you have a raffle along with the fashion show you can make a great deal of money. A fashion show on its own just doesn't cut it.If you need any other qwuestions answered just email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. I have never done this type of event but if I was I'd call a local department store, perhaps even Walmart or Fashion Bug to see if they would be interested in providing the clothing. Perhaps it could even be available to purchase at a discount or something after the event... or offered to the model. WHERE i live there are some local antique dealers who put on ladies tea fashion shows. They bring the food, drink and clothes. I have never checked into pricing however I was a guest at one and I believe the tickets were about $25 each. It was really wonderful as they showed clothing thur the different time periods, starting about 1800 or so and moving forward... they also played music from each time period.

I hope others have suggestions or ideas!

Someone please help. I need information on how to put on a fundraising fashion show for children age 4-17 for my child's school. How do I get the clothing? Do I ask fashion design schools in the area? What about fittings? How long does it take to plan this? What is a reasonable amount to charge for admission? What venues are appropriate? Are these shows successful fundraisers, or is the norm to "break even?" What themes are there for children? What does the designer get out of it? Someone please help. I need assistance from step one, to walking down the runway? Thanks. I am new.
