How about a family comedy night, there are comedians who do "family comedy". With a few candles and a few tablecloths, you can transform your school cafeteria into a "club" or if you have a stage or a theatre, you can do it there. We did it, it was a great success, different, fun and profitable!

A "family night" can be whatever you want it to be and anywhere you want to hold it - the school, restaurants, amusement centers, etc.

A school carnival could be anywhere, but I think most of us would hold it on our school grounds, just because there probably isn't any rental charges, you can collect and store your supplies at school, we often borrow tables and other things from the classroom, etc.

In the past we've done family nights at Fazolios, Chick Fila, places that had skating, miniature golf, or gymnastics. We have a Spring Fling at the school that includes an evening of bingo, refreshments, sock hop, silent auction, and other activtities.

At our school - Family Fun nights are required to keep certain grants alive. Check with the school administrators to see if you need to prove that you're a "lighted schoolhouse" and if you have to put on some kind of "math" night or "reading" night.

Don't forget the PTO Today College Funding night - from what I've heard - it's a winner and may be a good family night to put on in spring - when nervous parents are thinking about college applications and tuition.

It would take to long to list all the great ideas that I have read on this site. ake some time and read through the threads. You won't be asking for ideas anymore, you will be asking about details. I am having trouble deciding what ones not to do, since we can't do them all .

I am next years PTO president. I am trying to come up with some ideas for family fun nights. Does a family fun night have to be at the school or can it be at like a local roller rink? Same with carnival does it have to be at the school or can it be at a small nearby amusment park? What is everyone else idea of family fun night and of carnival? Thanks for the help.
