You raise a valid question. I know from personal experience from a past job that even a restaurant or bar, etc have a licensing fee they have to pay to play music, words or not. ASCAP used to be the organization the fee was paid to. Not sure if it still is. We do have to pay to show movies regardless if we are a non profit and if we are or aren't charging admission, so I'm thinking technically, a licensing fee would have to be paid. This just may be a big ole can of worms you've opened.

I was thinking about a fashion show in the fall for our school. I was going to play themed music (WWE, movies, Crazy Frog) but nothing with vocal tracks. Since we are a non-profit organization and I'm not using the music for commercial gain, do you think we need the companies' "permission" to use the music? Can you imagine how much time that would take? What are you thoughts?
