Thanks Michelle:

I went to Walmart twice and spoke with 2 different managers. They said they offer no such program and couldn't help me. Oh well..

I was the one who mentioned the Walmart in a prior post. When we set up our account all we had to do was fill out a form at the front desk about our organization and they said they would get back to us about participating in this program. We talked to the committee in charge of their fundraising projects and told her about our Scrip program ( how it works, why we are doing it ) and asked them if they would be willing to participate. They agreed that it was a worthwhile program, signed on and gave us their conditions ( ex. we have to buy $500.00 worth at a time and we get 5% back). We have been doing this for 4 years now and haven't had a problem.
I hope this clears things up for you. I am not sure who you talked to but they probably have a fundraising projects person to talk to because Walmart is so community involved so I would search for that person and talk to them.
Good Luck !!

NSC regularly monitors this site and we wanted to clarify a couple of points that came up in the discussion forum.

To clarify,American Express’ Encompass Everyday Card actually gives back 3% to nonprofits (up from 2% under our old model). While it’s a lower percentage than most branded gift cards, the flexibility of the card is an advantage. Encompass was designed to be used immediately for everyday purchases and offers three months of use.

Just be careful of NSC's cards - they expire in 6 months!

NCS is offering an American Express Affinity Card that is good at Costco and Wal-Mart that pays a 5% commission to the school.

They also have another Amex Product that is good at a bunch of other stores that also pays 5%; The commission on the second card is less than the scrip of the individual on the list.

From what I understand, It can take up to 2 weeks to get your order back from NCS, but that Wal-Mart card could be pretty popular!

When you go into the Wal-Mart, ask the store manager how much $$ you have to spend on gift cards to get a 10% discount-you should get some kind of positive answer.

Someone in a prior post mentioned that Walmart does participate in Scrip. I went to our local Walmart and the girl had no idea what I was talking about. She said she's worked there 7 years and never heard of such a thing. Should I go to the national headquarters, speak to a manager, etc.? Any help is appreciated. Also, if you do use Walmart, what's the percentage?
