Do you consider food allergy children when planning your "food" activities?

22 years 1 month ago #86776 by ReneeF
My middle son who starts first grade this year has severe food allergies. He is not allowed to eat any baked goods or anything else unless I inspect and approve it to be safe first.

This was one of my "major" reasons for running for a PTO officer.

I was wondering if you consider the food allergic children in your school when you plan you "food" activities for the children? Especially the Ice cream socials (peanuts).

With so many children allergic to so many foods in this day and age, I was wondering if you stop to consider the child who cannot participate because of his/her allergies.

Do you speak with the parents of these children to see if there is anything "safe" for them to have as an alternative so that they can also attend and enjoy the social event?

wondering,

Renee ;)
