Not The Traditional Fundraiser!

Hi,
I'm combining an answer to both responses no the company is not internet nor phone service. None of the officers involved with my PTO had ever heard of the company. No, there is no conflict with my employer. The fundraiser is only associated with the company. I am running a business from home. Also,we are having an issue as to what the actual PTO money should be used for. Some want to use for funtime for kids(only) .Others want to use money for supplies only and then there are tho who want to do a combination. The budget cuts for schools in Alabama are horrible. Alot of things are being cut off. I feel that the majority of money should go to improve the children's education. For instance, the cuts here have taken away funding for the library. Therefore, no money is available for new books. So is not education more important that providing money for just fun days?

There's the chance that your officers have seen these type programs in past and -- after hearing lots of promises about replacing selling and making tons of dough -- the other programs didn't pan out.

Hate to say it, but in my 10 years working with PTOs, the most common fly-by-night pitches have sounded a lot like that. Honestly, I'm not saying yours is that way (I have no idea what company or what product -- though I'd wager it's long distance or Internet access), just that maybe your officers are jaded (rightfully jaded?) against these type of pitches.

You are right - not enough information. Also - as VP of the PTO, do you see no conflict of interest in suggesting that a fundraiser be used in conjunction with your employer?

I would like to get some opinions concerning this fundraiser. I am VP of my PTO. I recently suggested a fundraiser from the company that I am currently working with. The company offers a non-profit organization fundraiser that creates a residual income for the school, church or charitable organization. There is a one-time presentation and the school receives money as long as the member upholds their agreement with the company I am partnered with. The fundraiser taps into the persons already monthly expenses. Therefore there is no extra money spent as with other traditional fundraisers(candy, cookie dough,etc.). I was totally sold with the opportunity to get away from the traditional selling, however, the idea was not accepted.
Thanks for you feedback.
