Class Projects to Auction

Well our kindergarteners were each given a block letter, about 4x4 inches which they colored in a pattern of their choosing with colored pencils. We glued in alphabetical order on posterboard and framed it. Each child signed his name on the back of the framed artwork. Each class made such one poster, they went for about $40 each.

The first graders each drew their vision of the tooth fairy and decorated with ribbon and plastic stick-on "jewels." We xeroxed these in color, reduced, cut out and framed them also. One of these went for $150.

Our older kids each made a circle of felt (don't know how they did this--we had a "Felter" artist in residence for a month who worked with them.) They stitched these together and made a wall hanging hung from a stick. It was very primitive looking and in my opinion rather odd. But they still all sold for $30 and up.

I think the bottom line is anything made by hand and signed as a class will sell. Our art teachers design and implement these projects during art class, then our parents do whatever is needed to turn it into the finished product. If you are organized enough to do the projects in advance, you can bring to PTA meetings or take to the class to show to drum up bidding interest in advance.

Good luck, let us know what you think up.

I love your idea!! We are going to try to have a auction of class made projects items combined with our Supper with Santa the first Friday in December. We will definately use this idea!!

Do you have any others?

Our 3rd graders each drew a very detailed self portrait of his/her head and signed name underneath, with black marker on white 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper. We repeatedly xeroxed and reduced the size until each was about 2x3 inches, then carefully cut out, pasted all on black posterboard and framed in black. The drawings look like cariacatures when reduced like this. It made a really cool class picture.

Our school just recently did an auction where it was a raffel/silent and live auction (LOTS AND LOTS OF WORK).
We asked each grade to put together something for the acution and the teachers were so on board our pre-k class actually made a quilt where a parent sewed it up and each child signed it with there foot and hand prints (it went in the live aution for over 400.00) our kindergarten class mad a garden basket it had tools, books, gift cet to a flower shop (it went in the raffle area, 4th grade made an italian basket theme, the teacher sent a note home asking parents to donate an italian theme item it was huge with paste pizza kits and then the teacher threw in a video tape of the class play, our 6th grade class had a parent volunteer to put together a scrap book this mom got all of the kids school pictures, class parties, events that the kids had been in since kindergarten!! we put this in the silent aution and it went for 80.00, all in all it was a huge!!! success put we wouldn't have done it if the teachers weren't able to help with the projects!

Can anyone give me ideas on class/grade projects that you have made and auctioned off. I am doing a quilt now, but need ideas for the higher grades (2-5).
