In past years at our old school, we've had grat luck with themed basket autions at our school's carnival. we recently built a new school and are now in our 2nd school year there. We are going to have our first carnival this feb. (there are 3 elem in our district & only one has a carnival) We are going to do the basket auction at our new school. We assign each grade a theme (ex: chocolate lover's basket for 1st graders; backyard BBQ for 2nd grade...) We send a newsletter home with the student asking for them to donate an item for their classroom basket. We have about 6 to 8 themed baskets total. we have 2 to 3 classrooms of kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd,& 4th grades at our schools. So our baskets are pretty full and bring great money!
Our school PTO is going to have a Silent auction and any ideas, forms, advice on doing one would be very welcome. We usually don't have many volunteers in any of our events so it is a bit overwhelming.
Would love to hear success stories and also what does/did not work.
