What % is the minimum 'norm' for fundraisers?

19 years 3 months ago #85274 by Bertha
We hold 2 major fundraisers a year. The companies we prefer to use offer a 35% commission. We're very happy with the companies. We make so much off of the one company because no one in the surrounding areas use this company so we sell more.

We also like to use smaller companies because they offer better customer service. We don't like the wrapping paper and candy companies, we look for unique items. We love to be different!

It depends upon what is being sold and demand.

50 or 80% of something that does not sell has
no value.

10% of a product that has fair value and has
repeat sales produces more income. Wal-Mart
proved that.

The most important question is, is there value
and will the purchaser use the product, if not
you are better asking for a donation.

Merchant Rebate programs offered by all the
major manufactures offer only 3,5 7 % but
people want the products offered and the value
is there, and there is repeat business.

Wishing you success

I know we don't sign with a brochure sale for less the 50%. I also like to get other perks like top seller prizes, free inflatables for our carnival, top teacher prizes...things like that.

I haven't been involved in the fundraising aspect of things, but now I have my own business that can do fundraising for groups. Is there an expected percentage that PTO's across the board only look for when considering fundraisers?
A friend of mine said 50% or retail cost... but I wanted to see what you all thought.
