personalized bricks

One of our area school districts is doing this type of fundraiser. Here's what they have on their website:
The cost of the memory bricks is $60 for a 4”x 8” brick and $110 for an 8”x 8” brick. The smaller brick may contain up to two lines and the larger brick, four lines. In both bricks, a line consists of 12 characters, which includes letters and spaces.
Example: In Memory of
Jo Ann Smith
2 lines, each 12 spaces

I am sure they have gotten most of the materials donated and a parent's company is doing the work as a donation.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

Our local Soccer Club is doing a fundraiser "Make a Lasting Impression" which is the engraved bricks for $50.

I think they bought all of the necessary bricks for the lower price and are storing them. Every so often they have a bunch engraved and they go to the area of the pavillion to replace the plain with the engraved.

I'm not sure what type of money they are making, but I can say that we don't have too many with inscriptions.

Has anyone raised money by selling bricks that the family's name could be engraved? We are thinking about an outdoor classroom and would like to have a path paved in bricks. I am thinking that it would be expensive - any thoughts on this? Maybe stepping stones instead?
Any ideas or words of wisdom would be appreciated!
