Joint carnival - elementary & Jr. High

I had thought about wrist band and then just split it in half. I also thought about each school selling tickets in a different color. Then after the event when you count tickets you would know who got what money.

It is kind of being used as a celebration for the dedication for the two new schools. So I think we will have a lot of the community there as well. Just to see!! Don't you think a silent auction could make some money??

For the food I thought about having each school serve certain items. Like the Jr. High serve all-american: hamburgers, hot dogs, etc... And have the elementary school serve local food: nachos, burritos, tacos, etc... The different colored tents was a cute idea too. I could see the same thing happening.

Funny you should ask
We are in the process of planning an event like this. Our Middle school is 6-8 (it just opened this year) Elementary pre-k-5. The event is planned for March.
We are splitting the cost & revenue on slide, bounce house cotton candy etc.
We are renting spces to local vendors as well. Any spaces rented through joint advertising in the community are to be split down the middle. Space rental coming directly from the individual school would go to that school. We control this by using a code on the applications. Each school is bringing 2 food vendors. So far everything is going smoothly! I will let you know when the event is finished exactly how it went.

As far as the two school together, I love the way your Principals are working together! Sure don't see that everyday!
We are K-12 and our Spring Fling is great! The BASE (beofre and after school program) hosts the event and sells tickets but I love the wrist band idea! I agree with letting the games run themselves or each of the new clubs of each school runs a game too (they could use the money!). The more I think about the food stands, would it be better to have four- 2 for the one school in blue tent and 2 for the other school in red? No competion encouraged but I can hear a couple Dads now having fun with it! "Hey you blue, stop taking our ketchup!" "Only if the red stands stop serving warm soda!"....okay, maybe not but a thought.

We have thought about a joint effort before but it hasn't worked out yet. One idea we had was to sell wristbands for admission (we used these for unlimited games last year) and let the school keep all money they get selling the wristbands to their students, families, etc. You could still divide the games and let them be responsible. If you have a concession stand you could let the 2 schools divide the shifts and split the profit. Let me know if it works out for you. Good luck!!!

We have a Jr. High (7th & 8th) and an elementary (K-6) opening this fall at the same time and right next door to each other. The principals just told me that they want to do a joint carnival to celebrate. Has anyone ever done this? How did you split the money? We also need it to be a fundraiser since neither school has any money yet. Should we go all out and do a silent auction? I really like the karaoke jail. At my current school we have done junk food walk, hay maze, jail, pictures, food and lots of games. We normally have a teacher sponsor the game and they earn the money. That would work for the new elementary but what about the Jr. High. Maybe clubs or sports teams?
