Is the a crazy idea ?

Our community did one of those Kids Dreams Playgrounds years ago and surrounded it with a picket fence. On each "picket" was a sponsors name. Only downside is that if this is painted on, it will wear off pretty quickly.

Not a crazy idea at all! What we're going to do (should we actually get someone to pony up! ) is put a large bronze plaque at the entrance with all the different sponsors listed broken down by level :Gold, Silver etcetera. That's what you ususlly see around here. The only problem I can see with signs on the fence is people arguing where their signs are or just hearing from people after they're up that their sign is in a crummy place.

Good Luck!

We have a park somewhere in town that has something similar. I think they are like 3x2.5ft that say this (slide) was made possible by (X business). I also saw one that had a sign made that listed all of the businesses and individual donors that that made the park possible. I think the signs are wood with etching and painting for the name. Some places also sell benches to go around the area. I don't think this would cost much, if you know a carpenter, ask if they could do it.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

The school wants to expand our playground for the older grades. Last year we replaced the K-1 equipment. This year we want to add an obstacle course and tire swings. The swings alone will cost about $4ooo.oo. We only have $10,000 in our playground funds and that is not going to cover the cost.

So my idea is what if we can signs made up with sponsors (local businesses and families) on each one. I'm thinking about the size of two feet by three feet. These would be attached to the fence surrounding the playground and can be seen from the road.

I'm not sure if I should do the research on how much the signs would cost or if I should check and see if the principal/PTO board/school district would go for it.

I'm not sure how much we would charge, but I guess that would depend on the cost of having the signs made. I'm sure that I could get an area business to give a discount, but how much of one I'm not sure.

Has anyone done this type of fundraising? I've heard about selling bricks, wood planks, etc. but never something like this.
