Walk-A-Thon Services

Michelle, I'm going to say it again--Could you PUH-LEASE move to my school district? $1,000?? From ONE kid? You make me want to scream!

YES--the money to be made is why I had my panties in such a twist when I couldn't have the walk-a-thon when I needed to--it really screwed up our fundraising schedule!

Like I said, after talking to Bertha, I really would rather take a little extra work and do it ourselves with flat donations. I'm with nonsequitur about not liking going to the donor twice, and besides, figuring how much to give per lap is annoying. I'd rather just give $5 or $10 and be done with it!

If you email walk-a-thon services here in NJ maybe they know of someone in your area that does it.

Their web address is www.walkathon.com.

Just remember the company you use usually gets 25% commission then take out expenses. When I went back to check out the figures I nearly fell off my chair. We gave up just shy of $7,000 ... that's $7,000 we could have used on the kids.makes me think I'm in the wrong business!!!

Please, Please, Please tell me where you live that a child can raise $1,000.00 on his own. It sounds like a dream come true. I love this idea but am not sure that it would work in a small school of only about 200 students. Does anyone who lives in a small town use this service. just a note--volunteers are great, but come out sometimes you can only give so much time. we are only human and i am a volunteer and boy do we catch alot of flack.

I don't know but the tone in your post is a real turn off Bordeaux Trez. Yes it is very snippy actually. I would not knock the people (yours truly) who used a company like that. When we used Walkathon Services as a new and third (trial) fundraiser it was well worth the money. It is very labor intensive and let me tell you, a LOT of people pledge and a lot of people also DO NOT honor their pledges. This company collects on your behalf and after seeing the amount of pledges we had ANY VOLUNTEER would have to work FULL TIME for a week to do what they do for you. Now as I like to volunteer and do it very often(LOL) AGAIN, I would highly reccommend this company and no I will not be getting a commmission on this pitch for them!

Might as well just hire telemarketers! I know that if I agreed to pledge money to a school through a child, I would be a bit peeved at receiving something from a company trying to collect said money. I also would think "huh, they have the money to hire a company to run this fundraiser, they must not need my money". Now, not people are as snippy as me, but it seems like a lot of wasted money. Aren't volunteers supposed to ... I don't know VOLUNTEER! 25% may not seem like a lot of money but it certainly adds up fast. Just something to think about.
