concession stands

I worked concession for our local Little League and had noticed the same problem.

It is "mandatory" for every team to take their turn working an event. Each team MUST get a minimum of 8 people to work. Do you have something like this set up?

Time to shake things up. Sometimes it just takes a closed concession stand with a sign "closed due to lack of volunteers" to shake things up.

One of our local little leagues have gone "automated". They hired an outside company to provide vending machines. I don't know if they get a profit from the sales.

It may be something to look into.

we are in our 13th year of running the concession stands at home sporting events. each year we get less and less helpers and harder to find coordinators. 6 months of work, over 50 helpers and 670 hours-it only brings in $5k total. Really looking for something that could bring in the $5k to make up for giving the stands up. we think even if we have to find a big group of people to work our rears off for an event, would be easier that the 670 hours it takes to run the stands. wondering how many schools have pto in charge of their stands? thanks for input!
