There is a very long thread about this topic already started with some good info there.
We are having a fund drive which started last Friday. Our boy scouts and Brownies have collected coins in the carpool line in the mornings-three mornings this week. We're up to about $1500 I think.

We are collecting(as a school district--not PTO) items to make health kits or layette kits---toothbrushes, diapers, pjs, wash cloths, soap, blankets---etc. Or families can send in money for these items to be bought---our shipment will go out on January 21st--we have a company who is going to package and pay for shipping for the items. We did this same kinda thing but made clean up buckets when southern ohio had the big flooding a few months back. I know i have saw on here alot of coin drives going on--sounds like a great idea too.
