Label program

We ask each kids to send in a $1.00 with their labels. They received a bracklet with the school name on it, a pull tag for their book bags, ice cream social, tattoos, cupcakes. Basically, if your child sent in anything they get a prize but we as parents pay for it. Then they do class prizes and the kids who sent in the most for the school each month.

At my school, each class has a collection bag. They're boxtops/labels are counted once a month and the winning class gets a treat.

At the end of the year, the class with the highest combined total for the whole year gets an ice cream or pizza party.

Thank you for the information. I forgot to mention these are "educational labels". We have a great mom who cuts, counts, sends in the labels, and gets the prizes to the students quickly. All the parents have to do is put the labels in a bag or envelope with the child(rens) name on it and the teachers have a special envelope just for labels.

We do occasional class contests for a party or run a weekly store on Fridays. We try to get things donated for the store or use small things leftover from our carnival-pencils, tattos, rings, etc.
We made about $400 each of the last 2 years. If you check out the box tops site, they have lots of people who have posted their ideas. One I particularly liked was when children filled out a bingo card with box tops and when it was full, they took it to the office and picked a prize out of a draw. It seems pretty easy to me if you don't have anyone to coordinate something else.
Most of the schools around here just have plastic bags or bins in the classrooms and other busy areas.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

How is your label collection program run?

In the past, we gave a school pencil for every 20 labels to each child of a family. We went through many pencils during our label contest.

We are looking to do something else. I know some do a store. Do you have to offer a reward for labels?

Just looking for new ideas!
