Heres' a sample from our current project

February 27th, 2006

On behalf of Calahan St. Elementary School and PTA, I would like to thank you in advance for your support of our mission to improve the lives of our children. Our primary spring project is our building and redesigning of our Edible Garden and Schoolyard Habitat, scheduled for April, 21st and 22nd, 2006. Campus enhancements and beautification projects have been very successful for us in the past, thanks to the generous support of businesses, such as yours, our school parents and our hard working students. This year, we are excited to build our Edible Garden and Schoolyard Habitat to help foster ecological education, integrate nature/habitats and ecology into our core curriculum (to help enhance grammar, literacy, math, science and social skills). In the past, we have had tree planting days, flower and flora projects, and recycling and ecology projects.

We are asking you to consider donating items/ building materials for our project. Your contributions can be in the form of actual merchandise or gift certificates for products or services. Monetary donations are also welcome. We have enclosed a donation form for your convenience. All donations need to be received by April 10th, 2006 to be included in this year's event. We are a non-profit organization and your donations will be tax exempt. Upon receipt of your donation, you will receive a thank you note with our tax ID number that will serve as your receipt for tax purposes.

In return for your generosity, your company will be announced as a sponsor of the Calahan Edible Garden and Schoolyard Habitat and Calahan St. Elementary School, listed and on our school website (LAUSD.k12.ca.us/Calahan_EL), our Calahan Edible Garden & Schoolyard Habitat website(home.mcihispeed.net/~gmsnctry/index.html), and listed in our School and PTA monthly newsletters.

If you have any questions or need any additional information, please email me at the address below, or phone xxx xxx-xxxx. We hope you will assist us in this endeavor -- your contribution is 100% tax deductible and greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to consider our request.

Sincerely yours,

Shawn Christopher Minton
Edible Garden & Schoolyard Habitat Chairman

The place to look is to go to "search Message Boards" and search for "donation Letters".
I just checked out a few postings, and they are informative. The one that may help the most is "How do you start your actual request for donation"

Goodluck!

I am in the process of going out to local stores and vendors to ask for donations to use at our schools dance raffle. Does anyone have a form letter or something to show these vendors? I thought I saw one once and liked the idea. Maybe even a word of thanks can be addded to it if they do say yes.
