We have received some video rental cards from blockbusters. How many do you put in a gift basket? Do you only place one rental card with sodas, candy and popcorn or more rental cards? I'm not sure about this. Please help. Thanks

We have an assembly the Friday before the carnival to kick off the King/Queen, Prince/Princess contest. We bring in bikes, TV's, whatever the prizes that year are going to be.

Each child gathers donations from family, friends, co-workers, whoever. For every $.50 of donation turned it, the child receives one ticket to the carnival.

The deadline for turning in money is noon on Thursday. There is usually a natural break in the money received to determine the Princes and Princesses. They usually receive something worth about $20-$35 dollars. A rough estimate is 10% of what they brought in. Boy, do we have fun shopping on Thursday afternoon.

Everyone bringing in $100 or more gets called out on the gym floor and gets prizes. They also get to silly string the teachers.

We usually sell an additional $2K the night of the carnival. Middle school kids, preschool kids, and townfolk wanting to play bingo.

Like I said before, it is our only fundraiser. Combined with dinner and silent auction, we net over $20K. By the second week of October, we're done!

I love these ideas, can someone tell me a little more about the King/Queen, Prince/Princess? The presale info was great too - already looking forward to our Fall Festival

I forgot to add, we always offer to buy the police officers lunch and all the free beverages they want and send them a nice letter and certificate of appreciation afterwards.

Our carnival's are free to the students. It is done on a regular school day in conjunction with field day activities. PTO pays for it out of monies we've raised and as a THANK YOU for a great job the kids did on fundraising. We have a $2000 limit for prizes and our fundraiser man brings the inflatables anbd other carnival games as an incentive to the fundraisers we run through him. It's a win win situation. We do see that we could raise money with this, but we want to give it back to the kids. One thing we do annually is to have the local police department finger print the kids and the children take those prints home to their parents as a safety measure. This way the police department gives back to the community and it helps the families in the event that something would happen to their child (and hope it never does).
