We do a basket auction at our carnival it brings in close to $1000 we have the teachers to pick a subject and the kids bring in the stuff to fill the baskets then during the festival we auction them off. We also have a country store we go around to the local bussiness and ask for donations and sell tickest for 3/$1.00 it always goes well and it gets the parents involed.

We use www.empties4cash.com for our ink cartridge collection. Our last check was over $200.00! Also, if any parent works for Wal-Mart there is a Volunteerism Always Pays award that they can receive $250.00 for your PTO when they have reached a minimum of 25 hours of volunteer work at the school. If you have questions about this award thru WM please email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

General Mill's Box Tops and Campbell's Soup Labels bring in a lot money.

What about a community event? Could you expand your carnival to be something that would appeal to the entire population? You know, games for the kids and maybe some more grownup games, food, a raffle, etc.

How about just doing a direct solicitation fundraiser? You present parents with your annual budget, divide by either # of students or # of families and ask each family to donate that much. For example:

$5,000 budget
140 students
________________
~ $36 per student

If that doesn't raise enough funds, there are other smaller fundraisers. Spirit Wear sold at a profit brings in a little. General Mills Box Tops is easy. Even your Fall Festival could bring in a small amount if you charge a bit over cost for food, tickets, etc. However, if the festival is usually a service and not a fundraiser then I'd say leave it that way.

We are a small school with about 140 students. We have a local business that makes pizzas that we sell coupons for one fundraiser and recently we have started a fall festival that works nicely except for the planning. We need new ideas. Our community doesn't seem to get very involved in most fundraisers because we are so small town. Everyone is related or close friends and it gets too expensive to buy from everyone so they just don't buy. Any suggestions?
