My granddaughter's go to two different school and each collect Box Tops, Campbell's and Community Coffee. My problem with incentives is which child do I sent with what so they can win a trinket that will be pitched after a few days or a popcorn party, etc. There are some parents that don't put any effort in so why should the child suffer. Let's just say it's all for the school and let the children know what a great job they did. I love the idea of school spirit day and no one is left out.
I'm not familiar with the milk cap program, but I guess the question is what does this program help fund for your PTO and how much? Maybe you need to look at cutting that program off the books for this year at least.
I know that sometimes I get tired of looking/cutting and sending in all of the different items we're collecting to help raise money.
I'm with Robin - additional spirit days are always a great incentive.
We do the boxtops program and have a year end winning class. Sometimes we do little incentive programs if the collections seem to be waning, but overall they're pretty consistent with or without monthly incentives so we've really stopped doing those. It's just added expense for what we were already getting.
I'm wishing we would stop the Campbells at our school. Frankly, I agree with a lot of posters around here. Too much work and cost sending them in for the choices for the different catalog items and the point values. Nothing like spending $50+ mailing them in and getting a bunch of gym class rubber balls. Whooppeee!!!
Is there a clear picture to the parents what the money helps pay for? Communication is always the key to any group.
Are you talking about the Hood caps, or another program? As far as I am concerned, contests should be limited.. the WHOLE POINT is to raise funds, not spend a high percentage back on incentives...
If you have parents that are abusing it.. try doing a one-day contest.. if the school brings in X number of milk caps in one day, then another day everyone gets to wear funny hats, or everyone wears pajamas, or everyone wears red, white and blue.. I find school spirit days are more successful because there is no cost, and EVERYONE wins!
Like Campbell's Soup Labels and Box Tops, Our school also collects Milk Caps. We are really struggling this year with involvment from our families. We do go out to the community and ask for more, but this year we have lost a big donation from a local coffee house. We have done classroom parties for the most caps, but we have some parents who really abuse that and are vocal about their child's class winnning. They work in the healthcare field and bring in a surplus for their childs class. We also questions, do we need to have one more reward add for participation? Does anyone have any other suggestions for us?
