THANK YOU SO MUCH! Our library funds were cut this year and we hope to raise 1,500.00. Thanks again for the information.

We do this where I work to raise money for local charities. We are getting ready to start up again and this is the email sent to all employees on the rules. I hope this helps.

Intent
The penny wars are intended to be a fun event to raise money In the spirit of the game, friendly competition is encouraged and good sportsmanship is appreciated.

Definitions
For the purpose of the 2003 Penny Wars,

“Money” shall include:
· any coin currently in production for circulation by the U.S. Mint;
· any paper currency currently in production for circulation by the U.S. Treasury;
· any personal check; or
· any cashier’s check.

Scope of Game
In general, teams are comprised of the staff in a division. Divisions compete against each other by placing money into their own jug or another division’s jug. Each form of money has a point value. The division with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Rules
1. Pennies add positive points. Each penny is worth 1 point.
2. Silver (i.e. nickels, dimes, quarters, & half-dollars) subtract points according to the value of the coin. For example, a nickel subtracts 5 points and a dime subtracts 10 points.
3. Paper currency, personal checks and/or cashier’s checks (i.e. one, two, five, ten, twenty dollars & up) subtract points according to the value of the currency. For example, a one dollar bill subtracts 100 points and a five dollar bill subtracts 500 points.
4. Gold coins subtract points in the same manner as silver coins.
5. Each Division team shall have a jug that will be labeled with the name of the Division.
6. Each Division's jug will be available to everyone during standard working hours (8:00 am – 4:30 pm) in a prominent location within the Division that is easily accessible to other DOI employees. Hiding the jug will not be permitted.
7. Each jug must contain an opening that allows all forms of money to be placed into the jug. Team members may not prevent others from placing money in their team's jug.
8. Money shall not be removed from any division's jug by any individual. This includes, but is not limited to, taking money from a jug and replacing it with money of a different form that would have a positive or negative affect on the points.

Library fundraiser with pennies? Help! was created by Abbys Apple
Hi, I am new to this site, but not the mag. A while back I read about a cute fundraiser with jars for collecting pennies, but if you put nickels, dimes, or higher monies, it counted negative against your class. Does anyone have the exact was this worked, or the issue to look in? All ideas will be appreciated!

Thanks!
