Tyson Project A+

I think the success of the Tyson Labels depends on your location. I live in a rural area where people raise chickens which means that folks here aren't buying prepacked, precooked, prewhatever chicken. We've been doing the program for about 4 years and have about 40 labels so far...
If your town is mostly young folks, Tyson is probably a great selling item. This alone would probably make it worth your time. Where I live, the average age of the grocery shopper is 55+, so they usually purchase the chicken from the meat counter to take home and prepare themselves.
I like their product, but in this neck of the woods, it is a little pricey. I try to buy it on sale. On the other hand, I usually buy their fresh chicken from our meat counter, but it doesn't come with labels...

Thanks, Serendipity.

Are those 78 Tyson labels collected since the start of the school year? Sooo...maybe you might be able to earn $50 for the year...sigh....well, I guess it's better than a kick in the pants....and given the fact that it's a new program and it doesn't take much work, it's not all bad.

Do you promote the program in your school newletters, or how have you been able to promote the program? Our 501 (c)(3) PTO is very fortunate in that we are able to include all of our notices/programs in the school newletter (sent out twice a month), and we rarely need to send additional flyers (actually frowned upon) home with the students.

Anyone know how long Tyson has had their Project A+ program....maybe they will iron out some of the inadequacies in the program and add more products?

Thanks again!

Hi! We just started doing it this year. The good thing about the program is the amount they give you per label. The bad thing about it is that you will not get as many of them.

So far to date (our last count) our kids have turned in over 8,000 box tops labels and only 78 Tyson labels. As you noted the labels are not on as many products. We also find that most of the Tyson labels we do recieve come from the youngest grades (K & 1).

Because it was new for us this year many people were confused about them and not certain which products they came from. We will probably stick with it for 2 years or so and then see if it is worth our while. It certainly is not a lot of work or time on our part.

Hi Everyone,

I've been checking out the Tyson web site about their label collecting program and was wondering how many of your schools are participating in this program and what your results have been.

I noticed that out of about 30 elementary schools in our district, slighly less than half are currently participating. I'm unable to see how much money each school has earned since you need the ID no# to view the results.

I'm thinking of proposing this to our PTO, but would appreciate some feedback on what other groups experiences have been with Tyson. It appears to me that their products eligible for the program are very limited. We are a K-6 school of only about 360 students - trying to do some math and I'm not sure the program will be exceedingly successful for us. They pay 24 cents for each label, but you need to send in a minimum of 100 labels at a time. With a limited product selection, I can imagine the parents that send in labels from Tyson products which do not qualify!

I'd appreciate some feedback on what others' experiences have been with Tyson, how much have you been able to earn, how much work is the program (similar to Box-Tops?), as well as how fast they send back the checks.

Thanks a lot ...

P.S. I've already read the PTO Today article on the Best and Worst Clip and Save Programs
