Ahhh!!! Having the parents sign a letter is a GREAT idea! I'm still very nervous about this since we have a student population of over 750 and absolutely no place to store the cookie dough.
Thanks for the great tip!

We did a Joe Corbi fundraiser using their pizza kits and cookie dough and everything went smashing!

The delivery man was very friendly and patient with us. We were sure to organize the delivery to our scheduled needs and Corbi's worked with us.

Parents arrived between 3-7 and we had only two orders that did not get picked up. Our kitchen staff was nice enough to allow us to place the remaining cookie tubs and pizza boxes in their cold storage overnight.

Parents were very happy with the quality of the product and how easy it went. It shot down any concerns we had about doing a pizza/cookie fundraiser.

Just remember to organize well, and make sure word gets out. We require all student to take home a school letter explaining this, requiring the parents to sign the letter that they've read it and return it with their child the next morning, much like a field trip permission slip.

Doing this has ensured every parent is aware of the program.

Good luck!

We did Joe Corbis Pizza and Cookie Dough in the fall so parents would have the cookie dough in time for xmas. We stated many times that anything not picked up would be donated and that was not a problem for us. and no one seemed offened. One person did not pick up their stuff and they called the school and talked to someone. And due to the reason for her not being able to make it we put it in the school fridge. But we had no problems.

I would be very, very careful with this. Seems to me like there are quite a few potential pitfalls with those do-it-yourself plan with this particular product. I imagine there are pretty serious food-handling regulations when it comes to food being prepared for sale. I'd check all those details (twice).

I understand how do-it-yourself holiday shops, for example, have some attraction, but this one seems a bit dicey to me.

Yes that is what I am saying. We have a source fer the lids and containers, I cannot put my hands on it right this minute but we do have one. Also the plan is to have some available for the open house and then to send out order forms. Once we get them in we will plan a weekend for pickup and then go in there the day prior and make it up. We will keep this in the refridge at school for the next day. So perhaps have pickup on Sat or Sun.

Just a thought there. We have never done it before and thought it may add a bit of a personal touch to it that might help out and would help with the cost of the tubs.

Make sure you ask the vendor how the cookie dough is processed. There is a difference between pasteurized and ultra-pasteurized.

I work with a company that uses ultra-pasteurized meaning once thawed you can re-freeze it again. This can be done numerous times for 6 months.

Also, one of the cheerleading groups I serviced made an announcement that all cookie dough not picked up between a certain designateed time frame will become a donation to the organization.
The sponsor made sure each particpating parent knew her cell phone number. If the parent could not pick up the items during the pre-determined time frame, it was up to he/she to call the sponsor and let her know.

Sounds harsh, but you have to make everyone realize that this is not a job and your time is just as valuable.

The group that carries the ultrapasteurized cookie dough is at www.rhkfundraising.com

Good Luck

Kevin,
We do appreciate the information you provided, but it's clear that you have ulterior motives in promoting your fundraising company. We regularly see posts from you which clearly promote your fundraising website. And in your above post, you try to direct people to your website without identifying that it is YOUR website, which is misleading and dishonest. This forum is suppose to be for parents to share ideas, not a place for advertising. I'm sure if you have an interest, the kind people at PTO Today can offer you some advertising plans that suit your company which would be in the appropriate areas (away from this forum).
