Parent appreciation

Hot dogs seem fairly inexpensive. Hum, a end-of-year BBQ/cookout with family oriented games, at a local park or even in the school play yard (ours is big with a covered pavallion area that the PTO purchased a few years ago). Possibly on the last day of school for students? Mom and Dad come and pick up your kids on the last day of school and have a hot dog and pop on us?

Okay I'm new to PTO anyone have any thoughts on the cost of this one. I think we have about 300 kids at our school.

Our Teachers organize a thank you program with the students for anyone that helped out during the school year. Last year the kids made pins in art for us. It is soooo nice not to have to organize something- and to be appreciated! This doesn't cover everyone that bought wrap at the fundraiser but the people that give their time. A very precious commodity.

We have a hot dog dinner in March with all the works as a appreciation incorporated with a program with the school putting it on. We just serve the dinner. Door prizes are handed out (these are usually ones left over from fundraiser items never claimed or given to us by local merchants). We even give away a couple of school T-Shirts they get to pick the size they want. It's great to show parents appreciation. We serve snow-cones, popcorn. We have the families fill out a slip of paper when they come in and it's manned by someone so there's only one entry per family. Give books away. We set up a table with pictures of different PTO activities that were sponsored throughout the year as well. Even a short slide show with music is even better for entertainment.

What a wonderful idea! It is the parents who make each fundraiser successful and it is the parents who provide the manpower necessary to run fundraisers and events. We provide gifts for teachers at Christmas and for Teacher Appreciation Week, as well as other times thoughout the year, why not do something 'big' for all the parents? A card would be a nice start, but what other ideas are out there?
:D ;) ;) :D

Hey just wondering if any groups have done any events as a way to say thank you to the parents for selling for fundraisers and general support of PTO projects. Maybe even not an event but possibly a nice card printed up at the end of the year just to let all the parents (even the ones who aren't active members of the PTO) know that they really are the ones who make the fundraisers successful.

I'm new to the PTO and just was wondering if any other groups have done. Thanks
