We did a beach theme and used: sand art, a wading pool with sand that the kids could sift for "buried treasure", we provided hawaiin shirts, dredlock wigs, leis and other beachy dress-up items and took polaroid pictures labeled with the school name date and theme. We had a beach ball throw, a home made golf game and if I think of any more I'll be back to let you know! It's lot's of fun! Good Luck.

At our field days there was an event where there were containers (buckets of wading pools will work) that had marbles on the bottom and then were filled about mid-calf level with water. The kids had to get as many marbles out as they could and into an empty container in 30 seconds. The catch - they had to do it with their toes. It was a huge hit! Keep fresh buckets of water on hand as it can tend to get dirty and you'll want to refresh the water from time to time (the kids won't care that the water is dirty - but you might.)

Hi, here are just a few ideas:
get some kiddie pools and fill them with sand, have sand toys, build sand castles, etc
fill other kiddie pools with bubbles and have lots of different bubble toys (wands, etc)
hoola hoop contests, limbo, balloon toss, beach ball toss, frisbee toss
for food you could make the cute blue jello thing with the gummy fish in it (you can either make individual fish bowls or a big one), goldfish crackers, hawaiian punch.....
I might stay away from water guns at school. There is a great website for more ideas though:
