i have also been told by law enforcement NEVER put kids names in shirt or somewhere easily accessible/viewable...you could put it inside the shoe, if you were so inclined and it made you feel better.
and NEVER have a shirt with the kids name or even 'daddys girl' or 'big sister/brother' etc on it, abdcutors are very clever at making kids think they are trustworthy/known to family.

My mom always told me to never expose your childs name on their body. Someone could see you childs name and use that info to trick your child. Something like "Hey Johnny I am a friend of your mom's, your mom wants me to pick you up today, you live at 123 street,right?" So my only advise would be to not let the info be seen but make sure your child knows to tell the poilceman/fireman where the info is. I applaud your efforts, this is something I still worry about today, someone taking my kids. I constantly remind my kids about strangers, I think kids can forget the rules and be easily convienced by a stranger.

Thanks for the idea, maybe the PTA could get the speaker to come to a meeting. That would help sales and increase awareness of this very real danger.

I just recently went to a seminar on how to keep children safe. My sister has twins and she dragged me along to get some good tips on what to do to prevent my child/ her children abducted. The presenter was from wander-wear and she gave tips on dressing children in bright colored t-shirts to keep track of your children in crowded areas. Also the company has tags that you can clip onto their clothing that has a contact name and cell phone just in case the child gets lost. The ideas were incredible and I felt like their ideas were so great and simple...I have already purchased t-shirts and clips for my son.
