I am wondering do any of you have an end of the year field trip at your child's school?

I was thinking of planning a trip to Cedar Point but was wondering since our school is in Michigan would I have to have the parents sign some kind of waiver (not holding the school or PTO responsible for liability/injury) or just get them to buy the tickets? I would like to use the profits from our fundraisers (for the next few months) to go towards this goal. I would also like to set aside some of the money earned to pay for at least 25 students to be able to attend.

Also, for those that have planned this how far in advance did you plan? Is it too much of a stretch to think that our school could raise over $5,000 in 3 months?

I've talked with the staff and from what I see we've never done anything like this before.
