International Fair

I know this is the end of the year, but this activity would be great for your upcoming calendar of events. Our PTO didn't host it, per se, but we were the ones who suggested it to the student group who did and then did a lot of the legwork! It sure paid off!! We had an International Food Fair today during the school day. It started around 10 with the elementary groups performing things from their assigned countries. There was music/singing, Haiku poetry reading, Venezuelan dancing, and other presentations. Then everyone could visit boths from each country and it finished with an assembly by the middle and high school students. Each class hosted a country. Their booth contained visuals and food. Each student wore costumes from either their assigned countries or the countries they were from. You could purchase a passport ($5 per adult and $3 per child) and it was printed with a flag of each country represented. These were just simple papers folded like a card and each table was equipped with a magic marker. The boothes were placed around the walls of the Gecko Dome (our gym) and tables were set up in the middle with desserts and drinks. It was wonderful!!! I don't know how much money this group made, but there was probably 300+ people (we have 150 students) and only a couple of booths ran out of food! Anyway, thought I would share another activity that is sure to please!
