Circuit city??

Yes, we just had our huge fundraiser and found that many of the companies that people listed as great donators did not donate. Funny, because I turned my friend onto Circuit City, and he did receive a $100 gift card - but he solicited well before the 11/1 date. When my school solicited in February, we were told to go to the local store. It got confusing because the local store told us to go to corporate. When we explained that they told us that there was a new policy, they did contribute....not nearly as much, but we did get a contribution and that's all that matters! There were also other companies that people listed as contributors (which I'll try to put into another posting) to which we received no contributions.

Good luck

We went directly to the store when we were looking for donations in April of 2003. The the store manager gave us a $50 gift card. I would suggest having something in mind you'd like to buy ie.. dvd play, tv etc. and they may donate it or donate a portion of it. Hope it helps.

I know that they are going thru some financial problems right now. They had to shut down the store in my town plus several others in other states. I don't know the policy for donations since we withdrew ours after they shut down, but I hope this give a possible reason behind their motive.

I heard that circuit city has changed it's donation guidelines as of 11/03, and no longer gives out gift cards at corporate levels. I heard they are now referring you to your local store for donations.

I was reading another message board that had to do with fundraising and there was 13 pages of posts regarding circuit city (they had discovered the gift cards! ) Most posts said something like "According to a letter that I received from Circuit City today, the company's contribution has changed as of 11-01-03. From Nov. 1st forward, contributions will be made at the store level and written requests must be submitted to the nearest Circuit City store for consideration. It goes on to say that the stores are not authorized to give gifts of cash or gift certificates and that each store has a limited budget for merchandise gifts, so some requests may be denied."

Has anyone else had any experience with circuit city since 11/03 that would know if this is how they are now doing it?

Thanks!
Crystal
