I dont think anyone would be mad at the 1st post, but the object of these types of forums is to make it easier for all, to share what we have, to increase productivity of our PTA/PTO's and for encouragement and comaradiere (sp?) and as my Daddy Confucious might have said "Why reinvent the wheel" ;)

Hi Teri- I've been running a tricky tray/fashion show for the various schools my children have been attending for the past 7 years. I spent many hours doing all the leg work just like you.

To be fair, my list was at one point was up to 10,000 addresses. Out of that 10,000 only about 200 still give donations. Most of the 200 are local businesses. I've had better luck going into the stores and hand delivering the letters than mailing them.

It really helps if you know someone from the company to give the letter to. Then they can hand deliver it to the right person.

I've also traded information with other local schools, they give me some addresses and I give them some addresses. We only trade companies that we know will give donations. So instead of only 1 person doing all the work, trade off with someone in another local town.

I'm really curious about the 8,000 letters you sent out, how many of them gave you something? and are they mostly local businesses, because they seem to give most of the time?

I really hope you have better luck with your companies. It's a lot of work for one person to do, you should try to get some others to help you out!Best of Luck on your event!!!
