Every student is assigned an address. Students, staff , parents, grandparents etc. can write to the students. The mail is dropped off in a special drop off box at the front office once a week. Mail is also picked up Thursday mornings thru the school drive through. On Friday mornings the mail is sorted by volunteers, any student who does not receive mail will get a generic mail(maze, find the word, puzzle etc.) The fifth grade students help the kindergarten students with their letters. Postal workers(students) fill out an application before hand and are interviewed. They then are the mail carriers for this event. This program encourages letter writing, reading, penmanship and self esteem. We have been doing this program for about ten years and everyone looks forward to it.
