Tell me what you think . . .

No. That's just silly. I could see it happening to one of my kids. Well, three kids, each has a folder full of papers and it has happened that one has lost, thrown away or didn't take an important paper. I could be a note home to see if it was misplaced (that's happened to us) or if Mom and Dad forgot.
The all or nothing way of doing stuff is hard for me. Especially regarding k-2 kiddos. They are still trying to remember were they left their shoes!

How I feel depends on why the punishment. Are they just trying to make sure the info. is in to be sure no one is stealing and all donations accounted for--it is a possibility some one took pledges and decided to keep the money, it wouldn't be a first--or is it done to push taking pledges? I'd talk to the school about it and see where parent intewrvention leads you.

If it really was just a responsibility thing - no pressure to fundraise, but (empty or full) "everyone has to bring back the paperwork", then maybe I wouldn't be too upset. Maybe.

Somehow I doubt that was the message and instead this was a way to pressure more fundraising effort. If that was even remotely the case, I'd be VERY ticked off as a parent, and I would be calling the principal - whether or not my child was penalized.

I just found out that some of our students were issued missing assignment stamps (5 and you get a detention) for not turning in their walk-a-thon fund raising envelope. GAH!!! This isn't a PTO fund raiser, rather one that is run by the school and all funds go directly to school budget. Regardless of all that. . . Is it just me or is punishing a student for anything regarding fund raising the dumbest thing you've ever heard of?!?! I'm shocked. I'm sure the teachers are going to defend it by saying they are trying to teach responsibility, but. . . but. . . but. . . I'm speachless.
