Hi Holly - we are interested in doing this for our 1100 students as well. Could you please send me a copy of your flyer if you have it active? Thanks so much!

Dear Holly & Serendipity,

I just read the posts regarding the flower sale.
If you still have the flyer (and any other info you would like to share) I would be greatly appreciative. My e-mail address is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

We had our flower sale this past Friday, May 6. It happened to also be Teacher Appreciation Week AND Friday was our field day too! It was a busy, busy week/day.

I found a local grower and they sold me any plant/flower they grow for 50 cents each and they delivered them for free! We sold them during lunch and after school for $1.25 each. I still have flowers left so I'm going up to school to get rid....oops I mean sell the rest today and tomorrow at our cost.

The kids really enjoyed purchasing the flowers as did the adults. We will be doing this again next year!

Now, I'm checking into doing a pumpkin patch this fall. There's not one in our immediate area and we hold a trunk or treat event that gets a huge response and I think it would be a fun thing to add. I'm hoping to start doing implementing "fund raisers" like the flower sale, pumpkin patch, etc. that still raises money for us without the parents feeling like we're dunning them all of the time.

Thanks for all the help and advice with this!
Holly

I'd love to see your flyer! I would love to do this this year. I was wondering about the pre-sale aspect of it. I am on the fence whether or not to offer something like that. We have a student population of 700 and 75 staff members. I was also considering buying the smaller terra cotta pots (they go on sale for 33 cents each) and then purchasing the 6-pack of annuals from somewhere like Walmart ($1.88 per 6-pack) and replanting them instead of doing the foil. I do like the foil idea as well. If I did the pots it would only cost us about .66 per plant. I'd like to do this as a service ranther than a "fundraiser" but would like to make a little money on it.

Thanks bunches,
Holly
