I planned a Wild West night at my kids school 2 years ago and had a chili cookoff as part of the event. This was judged by our student teachers. We then charged $1.50 per bowl. This provided us with a bit of friendly competition and donated food that we turned a profit on. Since then we have started bakeoffs at our annual Fall Festival. Last year was apple and this year was apple/ pumpkin. We were able to have prizes donated for the top 3 winners. So we've found this to be a great addition to our events.

Gingerbread houses is a good idea. I never thought about that. Would you charge people to vote or to enter. How can I make that make a few bucks! Sorry, but I'm in fundraising mode!

How about a Holiday House Ginger Bread house decorating contest or something else creative that isn't eatible that may take away from your bake sale.

I was thinking of hosting some sort of cookoff either after our Christmas program or during our spring carnival.

We have a bake sale after the Christmas program that is always hugely popular. So I was thinking about possibly a cookie cookoff, but also thought that might take away from the back sale.

For cookie cookoff I was thinking about this. Taking entries for applicants. Having applicants make cookies and break into approximately 200 bites. Charge 1 or 2 dollars to vote. Prize for winner? Fame?

Anyone tried this. Thanks
