10 years 9 months ago #164517 by Susie Q
That made a big impact on our group delivery. This spring 2013, our order NEVER came , seems it got lost!! Well they finally fed ex'd the order over two months later/NEVER AGAIN!!

Our cookie dough delivery was during the middle of some of this transition last fall. It would have been nice to have had a heads up, but instead we had numerous problems! Their cookie dough was the best in terms of quality, but we are very hesitant to use them any time soon due to issues with delivery!

With the closing of the regional distribution centers, we now have the ability to schedule a delivery when it's most convenient. Before, we had to take it the specific day that Otis was in town delivering to commercial customers. They ARE NOT using Federal Express for the main orders but now have the ability to get a missing or damaged item to you that way, again, much faster than before. The new distribution companies still have to verify our order is correct, they can't just drop and go. And, soon, there may be the option of pre-packing! You just can't beat the quality and as always, it's about the representative and their attention to our issues.

Otis made this decision without letting any distributor know. I own a wholesale food distribution company in southeast louisiana and one day a few months ago phone calls came flooding in from otis customers...saying that otis gave the cell phone number for the vp of our company and that we would deliver what they needed. We had no knowledge of this and although we have contacted otis multiple times to try and form some sort of organized plan of execution to carry there products, we have never heard back from them. We have started offering people who call for otis some of our Pillsbury cookies, which are cheaper, larger, and higher quality. This was very poor planning on the part of Otis.

They laid off over 400 people. Don't let the person who posted from Otis fool you, they did it to save money. We were very national with the sales centers and exceeded sales goals yearly. We would ensure correct delivery with every order and make the order right if something went wrong. You can't "better suite the needs of your customers" by eliminating familiar faces in customer facing positions.

Don't let them fool you. It was a poorly run part of the business and instead of refocusing their effort on replacing poor senior leadership they cut the hard working people in the group. It will catch up to them.

I think it's a better idea from an environmental impact point of view. In addition, there would be an increase in sales positions.
