W9 doesn't seem like the right form for this situation. Try giving them what you would normally submit and see whether that meets there needs.

I'm the newly appointed president at our school. We are currently seeking sponsors for our fundraiser and we had one ask for a W9 form. We've never been asked for one before and when I googled it, it appears that it's a tax form for someone who has paid you for work done. Has anyone ever been asked for this form? We usually just give out the tax ID form.
