My son's class spell-a-thon is a huge success. We had a minimum amount for each child to raise with an incentive for every child that raises over a certain amount.
The kids enjoyed it and the parents were incentivised....
We do a sight word a thon, where parents pledge money for each sight word the child will know. Parent volunteers help the teacher to go thru the words with the kids, then keep their tallies. Then totals are sent home. It raised quite a bit of money for our school last year!
