Suggestions for Auction Items

14 years 5 months ago #152306 by CMay2CK
Items that have been very popular at our school's auctions:

Reserved Parking: We auction off two spaces in the lot that are reserved for the entire school year for the winning family. The only expense is the signs we have printed each year with the family's name. Last year's spaces went for $1200 a piece!!!

Principal for a Day: We sold two last year at $750 a piece. This is a hit with outgoing fifth graders.

City Fire Fighters Dinner: Our local station donates a dinner for six, or a children's party, at the station.

Each of our classrooms puts together either a classroom collaborative project or a themed basket. Parents donate towards the basket or project. These are very popular at our live auction. Parents enjoy bidding on something their child had a hand in. If you would like more info on this, PM me.

We also have teacher outings. Teacher's donate their time for things like popcorn and a movie, a bicycling outing, a day at the ballpark, even a bedtime story read to your child in your home (our librarian does this every year-she brings goodies and reads an age-appropriate favorite to the child(ren) before bedtime).

We also make sure that everyone is aware that they will get promotion space in our auction program. Depending on our printing budget for the year, this can include a lsit of all donors or space for business card copies. It is a great way for a smaller business to get more exposure.

I forgot to register first, so there was no way to PM me. Oops. I also forgot the 5th grade promotion seats. We auction off two sets of four front row seats, and two sets of second row seats to the event. The front row seats sold for $700 and the second for $250!

Let's utilize this thread to help each other brainstorm new sources for donations. When we complete successful donations, we can then add the donor contact information into the ULTIMATE LIST thread.
