Fundraiser Help Needed!

We've been talking about doing one of these as well. The one thing that we're thinking of adding to your plan is to ask for donations of yard sale items from our families who may not have enough to be worth buying their own table and having a PTA table.

The big thing that we're finding that it will take to do it successfully is lots of advertising and publicity (if Craigslist is available in your area, it's a great place to find vendors), and calling it a bazaar or flea market tends to help. We're also going to try and market to home based businesses like Mary Kay and Pampered Chef, and ask each vendor to donate a small item to be used as a door prize or pay a slightly higher price for their space so we can have drawings going on all day long. Making it a little like a festival seems to be more appealing to people than just a standard yard sale.

Our school like most has been the victim of budget cuts. We are looking for new and creative ways to raise funds so that our school will be able to continue some of the programs we are in danger of losing.

One idea that we are throwing around is doing a community yard sale. We would "sell" tables or space to members of the community for them to sell. Then as a group we would sell baked goods and either hot dogs or some other type of food. So we would be the exclusive food provider and make money off of the spaces sold.

Has anyone ever done this type of thing? Can it be profitable? Any help will be greatly appreciated!!
