My thought is that would be way too invasive for me as a parent. I would want the information to come to me instead of outside companies contacting my children. There's a lot out there re: commercialization and children, how cell phones are being used these days to track kids' spending habits/locales - too Big Brother-ish for me.

Which reminds me, I'm going to start another thread on fundraising and commercialization...

Haven't come across anything-- you could promote your events that way though-- If you are having a dance, or some sort of movie event or something-- you could advertise it to the kids through text messaging--
You have to be careful though, because some accounts charge for texting--- and you might have a parent come back a little upset that you are using all their kids text messaging alottments for the month

I have never heard of a program like that... but it is an interesting idea!

We are a middle school pto that just formed 2 weeks ago and will have our very first meeting this Friday, May 9th. My question is....Is there any Fundraisers out there that are text messaging in nature. As parents, we all notice how these middle school age students have cell phones and text message all the time. Of course, cell phones are not allowed at school, but it shocks me to hear how much these guys text message. Any fundraiser out there that we could use to harness all that text message energy?
